Im Februar diesenJahres hatten wir hier ein Kapitel im Beisein der gesamten Generalleitung, und drei nigerianischeSchwestern übernahmen dann am 8. Juni 2014 die Leitung für Nigeria. Das sind Sr. Scholastica, dieschon seit drei Jahren mit Sr. Petricia und mir in der Leitung war, und dazu Sr. Kelechi und Sr. Agatha.Sr. Scholastica ist Krankenschwester und Hebamme, Sr. Kelechi hat ihre Ausbildung als Noviziatsleiterinabgeschlossen, Sr. Agatha ist Lehrerin. Seit Juni arbeiten wir intensiv zusammen, so dass sie ab EndeAugust selbständig die ganze Mission weiterführen können - mit der Möglichkeit, immer in Deutschlandnachzufragen, wenn es Probleme gibt. Wir sind sehr glücklich, dass diese Form der Weiterführunggefunden wurde und auch eingeübt werden kann. Mit Gottes Hilfe wird es gelingen, wir sind gutenMutes. Sr. Petricia und ich kehren dann für ganz nach Deutschland zurück.Die politische und damit die Sicherheitssituation hat sich leider nicht verbessert. Sie hören inDeutschland mehr von den Entführungen, Terrorangriffen, Morden als wir hier, das steht kaum in derZeitung, und in den Nachrichten kommt noch weniger. Auch jetzt im Juli sind die im April entführten über200 Mädchen (12 - 16 Jahre) aus Chibok noch immer in der Gewalt der islamistischen Terroristen BokoHaram. Es wird immer klarer, dass große Teile des Militärs und vor allem die Spitzen der Politik,Gouverneure und Abgeordnete aus den Nordstaaten, direkte Verbindungen zu Boko Haram haben unddiese Gruppe unterstützen, um politischen Umsturz vorzubereiten. Jetzt hörten wir, dass derzeit auchzwei Deutsche entführt wurden. Leider wird die Botschafterin, die sehr engagiert war und uns auchmehrfach besuchte, im August nach Helsinki versetzt. Hier in Garam gab es im März - April großeUnruhe, aus Gründen von Stammesfehden. Die Hauptstadt Abuja wächst sehr rasch, mehr und mehrAnsiedlungen von armen Leuten werden wegradiert, die Leute müssen sich anderswo eine Bleibesuchen. Dazu kommt der stete Strom von Flüchtlingen aus dem Norden, die vor dem Terror flüchten. Somischen sich auch in den vorher friedlichen und kleinen Ansiedlungen wie Garam die Stämme, und eskommt wie überall zu Unruhen, aus Neid und Eifersucht und Unkenntnis der Gebräuche der anderen.Nach einem Mord waren für etwa eine Woche nahezu alle Einwohner von Garam geflohen aus Angstvor dem anrückenden Militär. Nur unsere Schwestern hielten aus und einige Leute aus dem Dorf. Auchder Pfarrer und Lehrer unserer Schule suchten hier Zuflucht. Das hat sich wieder beruhigt, Gott seiDank. Alle Leute und noch mehr dazu sind zurückgekommen. Außerdem baut eine chinesische Firmaeine Bahnlinie, die führt geradewegs durch Garam. Bei Sprengungen - unangekündigt, ungesichert -wurden viele Häuser beschädigt. Auch bei uns im Innenhof schlug ein kiloschwerer Gesteinsbrocken ein,als wir alle beim Abendessen saßen. So gibt es immer wieder Aufregungen. Auch im Süden sind immerwieder Entführungen und Überfälle. Bisher ist uns nichts passiert, wir können nur dankbar sein.Aber die Arbeit unter den armen Leuten geht weiter und trägt Frucht. In den mobilen Kliniken sind es vorallem die Langzeitkranken, denen wir helfen können. Eine besonders große Gruppe sind die Epileptiker.Die wurden oft versteckt, wie ganz früher in Europa auch, weil man dachte, Epilepsie sei von bösenGeistern verursacht. Als wir den ersten Patienten helfen konnten und sie sahen, dass die Anfälle durchgeeignete Medikamente wirklich zurückgehen, kamen mehr und mehr Leute. Inzwischen sind es über 20meist junge Männer und Frauen allein hier in der Klinik in Garam, die sich regelmäßig ihr Tegretolabholen und so ein nahezu normales Leben führen können. Thirty Adult albino male rats were classified into 5 groups (each involved 6 rats) one of which is control negative (-ve) group, another one was kept as control positive (+ve) and the remaining three rat groups were given Arabic Gum with 5%,10% and 15% respectively. Feeding was continued for 6 weeks. The study showed that the hyperglycemic group of rats fed with 5% had highly significant reducing serum glucose (68.17) compared to control positive (+ve) group. The lowest percentage of Arab Gum seems to be effective in the treatment of diabetic rats in improving BodyWeight Gain, Feed Intake, Feed Efficiency Ratio, Urea, Creatinine, Albumin and Total Protein concentration The recorded improvement of these parameters was highly significant and significant with both 10% &15% Arabic Gum. Arabic Gum corrected the changes in internal organs relative weight. The group of hyperglycemic rats fed with 5% had highly significant in the mean values of serum electrolytes,(Na,K.Ca and Ph), the recorded results were significant in 10% &15% Arabic Gum for these parameters. Sensory evaluation, Farinograph and Extensograph properties of dough of toast bread samples prepared with replacement of wheat flour by 5%, 10% and 15% Arabic Gum respectively showed that the flavor and general acceptability of 5%,10% of Arabic Gum were higher than those of all Arabic Gum toast bread samples. In conclusion, Arabic Gum had beneficial effects in improving the health status of hyperglycemic rats. [Safaa Moustapha Abd El Fatah Faid.
